2.5HP Clutch??

I have a 2.5HP 4 stroke that I use on an inflatable dinghy. The motor starts and runs fine. However as I increase speed, although the motor increases RPM fine, it seems like the dinghy does not increase speed. It feels like power is not being transfered to prop. Is there a clutch that could be slipping?

Possibly you have spun the prop hub, a prop shop can replace it or buy a new prop

I checked the prop and the rubber inside the hub was "Chewed Up." When I checked it on the shaft with motor in gear I could rotate the prop without too much effort, so have ordered a new prop.
