  • Slow Starter

I have a 2001 130hp. When I first turn the key, the starter is barely able to turn over the motor. After a second or two it will begin spinning fine. I have a new 1000 CCA battery that will not start the motor. I need both batteries to get it started. Cleaned the connections all the way to the motor. Removed starter and polished armature. No change. Any thoughts?

Sounds like high resistance in the cabling(wires). I'll bet they are corroded inside and the ground is insufficient.
    Just a guess.

a voltage drop test on the positive and negative cables would tell ya.

I will run new wires straight from batteries to motor and bypass all connections. I'll let you know.

It would be a lot easier to pin point the problem with a volt meter like Rodbolt said and then fix what is wrong
