My Tach is maxed out

Good Morning. I have a 1990 Yamaha 50Hp 2 Stroke. This Weekend I developed a problem with the tach maxing @ 7000 as soon as the engine is started. engine is just idling but tac is pegged. could someone point me in the right direction to the source of my trouble. Thanks

Sometimes tach get little quirky

Behind tach there usually is adjustments. Just going through the ranges clicking helps them work. Try go back to setting that worked before, no problem running.
