  • NEED QUICK HELP!!

It is Friday and I need to be on the water TOMORROW help soon PLEASE!! 1985 90 HP Yamaha Outboard. Ran great 18 months ago. Been stored inside and not used. Now Accelerates VERY slowly. Once I have reves up around 4000 RPM runs well. If I throtel back to slow down (kids in tube) and loose my RPM's they do not come back when I throtel up again. I have to go right back to neutral and start over. Somthing I need to do to my two stroke after a long storage??

    Mark,
Your carbs are probably gummed/varnished up - the only quick fix to try is to do a shock treatment with Seafoam - scroll down thru the posts where I describe the procedure.
Also, remove the jets (note how many turns they are from being seated) and squirt some Berryman's Chemtool into the seats.
Drain all old fuel and put 16 oz can of Seafoam into approx 16 gallon of fuel in main tank (with oil, of course if pre-mix).
After do shock treatment - put in new plugs.
    Good luck,
    Ken K
