My 40 hp endure has a missing problem I know it is not a fuel problem. I shortened the spark plus wires where they go into the plug caps because the conductor was rusty and it solved it temporarily. I did the same again with no such luck. Next I rotated one new ignition coil through the two old ones and it seemed to help a little. I was told by a yamaha mechanic that you are not suppose to cut or shorten the plug wires. Can any one confirm this and if that might effect the spark to the spark plugs and cause the engine to run rough and or miss at a low rpm. Stuart meyers

Why not test the system with the proper equipment to see what is going on. A Yamaha service manual and a Peak reading meter or a DVA adapter and regular meter will tell you if you have a problem going into the coil

      Stuart,
Just a question. I have your motor, and I need one ignition coil assembly. Do you know where I could get one?
