  • Stripped out Wash Plug

I have a 15hp 2 stroke (1988 15GS). The wash plug on the lower unit is stripped out and was apparently glued in place by the prior owner. Now that I've removed the plug and can't screw it back in, I can either glue it back once or again, or just leave it off. Would it hurt anything to run the motor with the plug out? It seems that it just leads into the same intake chamber that is also served by the strainer. The only downside I can see is that larger debris could enter this hole that couldn't get through the strainer.

DO NOT run it with the plug out.
it WILL suck air burn up the impeller then overheat your titanic.
either heli-coil the threads or epoxy the hole.

Okay, sounds like I need to definitely plug it up again. Thanks.
