I have a 85 40HP 40etlk that i need to replace the gas tank. question? I have a 6gal tank from an older evinrude that has no vent in the cap. Will this gas tank work on this engine without a vent built in the cap.?
The tank has to have a vent of some kind, whether it's in the cap or a seperate vent line, or you may just get by with slightly loosening the cap while you're running, allowing air to enter the tank.
