  • Yamaha 40HP 4 Stroke Tach Problem

I have a 2005 Yamaha 40HP 4 stroke engine hooked up to a FARIA CORP. Tachometer model TC9026A and it does not work. Is this tachometer compatible with this engine? Engine P/N 67C F40BET L 1006083.
I used this gauge on an old 2 stroke and was working fine. Hooked up to the 4 stroke, it will not work no matter what pole switch position I select. I have the signal wire connected to the green wire at the control box which goes to the grey wire on the voltage rectifier/regulator. According to the Yamaha wiring diagram, this is correct. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, the tach does have a 12 pole setting. That's what it is set to right now.
I went through the faria manuals for help long before I posted on this forum.
I'm guessing the tach just died. It's less than a year old so I just wanted to make sure it wasn't a compatibility problem before I filed a warranty claim.
