  • Yam 140Hp temp and water gauge

I have an old 1987 Yamaha 140Hp that has some over heating issues. I would like to install a temp and water pressure guages to got to the root of the problem.

Has anyone else done this to a similar model and can offer me any advice in finding the parts to do the job?

Not familiar with 140hp models but most V4/V6 engines have water ports on top of block in front of heads to install temp sensor and water pressure tubing.

the V4 has a 14mm hex plug at the top of each cyl.
the water pressure taps into the port side, water temp on the stbd.

Hi, Does it matter which side they are installed on? I just installed a water pressure gauge & used the stbd side plug because the temp sensor was on the port side. Hopefully it doesn't because the pressure tubing barely reached the port plug. BTW I have a 1987 115 ETLH.
