  • "Ghost" in 2003 2-stroke 40hp tilt trim

Twice in two weeks, after running for about 20mins and cutting engine off. my engine tilt trim will either start raising the engine or lowering the engine, with the only way to stop it by hitting the opposite button on the t/t switch on the throttle. Once I let it go the engine will continue to raise or lower. Only after repeated stopping the travel by hitting the button will it stop. Then the boat will act fine for the rest of the trip. Never does it while sitting in the driveway, even while engine running with water muffs on. Is this a faulty relay?

    most likly a faulty switch.
next time unplug the switch at the relay.
if it quits its the switch,if not its the relay.
typical if the switch gets water inside or certain cleaning solutions.
