  • F225- Cant get into foward after changing shift cable

    Hi Everyone,
I just changed my shift cable on a F225. Engine is very hard to shift into foward. I thought it was the cable. apparently not. Reverse is smooth and easy. Throttle cable is easy both ways with shift disconnected. Any help would be appriciated.
    Thanks, Bob

      Shifting

It shifts ok when running. Its just a lot harder to push shift into foward than reverse.
      Thanks for your reply.

How does the motor shift with cable
Unhooked? (spin the prop when shifting)

How far is the cable end screwed on
In the control box? If it's on to far
The cable can hit the end inside.
          Limits travel to forward.

            shifting

The moter shifts fine with cable disconnected. I just finfd it strange that it goes into reverse so much easier then into foward. It is usable as is it just bothers me that reverse is easy and I have to push quit a bit harder for foward.
I will look back into the binnacle to see if there is any interference.
            Thanks for your replies!

You may be trying to mount and ride a dead horse. Before your message the last time this post was responded to was over four years ago.
