hot motor warning buzzer

I have a c70 yahama, when rpm's go over 3300 the hot warning buzzer comes on and shuts the motor down. Waiting 20 sec. its starts back up, I had the water pump replaced it still shuts off at 3300 rpms or higher. The motor is never hot when it shuts down. coulg this be a sensor problem ?

on all of the Yamaha motors I know of the high temp alarm system should not shut off the motor, just retard the timing and reduce the RPM
