  • Installing lower unit

On a 1998 yahama 60 hp there is a damper, water seal between the pump housing and water tube. Does anyone know of a trick to keep seal in place while installing lower unit? Does't seem to be any room for error and never sure if seal goes over tube.

Ok, still no room for error. Would you put the seal on the water tube so it will go into the top of the taperd opening in the water pump housing or into the water pump housing to install?

If I understand you correctly, that black rubber grommet goes in the top of the water pump housing, put a bit of grease on it so water tube will slide into it easily. Good luck!

Was able to find a friendly yahaha mechanic - water seal on this motor actually goes inside cover of impeller housing. Ended up removing head and cleaning circulation ports there also to solve overheating problem.
          Thnaks for replys and tips.
