  • 2001 Twin 200hp HPDI - Excessive Exhaust Bubbling

    Hi Everyone,

We purchased a 2001 GW Islander with twin 200HP HPDI's last year. When the motors are running at idle the Port motor causes a lot more turbulance when the exhaust is exiting the prop. Any idea's what can be causing this? One thing we noticed when flushing the motors out after each use was that the port motor would be at full stream of water coming out of the pee hole almost instantly. When we flushed the starboard motor the wate pressure builds up and eventally gets to a full stream coming out of the pee hole. Could the Pressure Relief Valve be stuck open. And if so, would it cause more turbulance in the exhaust coming out of the prop? Any ideas or help would be appreciated. No overheat alarms going off as well.

Might remove the lower unit and check muffler is not broken inside upper casing.

Thank You...Will check it once we change the water pumps in March. Boat is currently dry docked and shrunk wrapped for the winter. If the muffler is cracked, is this a DIY project or do we need to have a tech do the job?

The powerhead would have to to be removed to replace muffler.
