  • To pro-v or not to pro-v

What is the difference between the pro-v models and the non-prov model yamahas?

I am looking at purchasing a 1993 pro-v 115 and noone can answer the question as to wether the pro-v is worth an extra $200.

So, to pro-v or not to pro-v, that is the question.

Also, is the pro-v suitable for saltwater

    Thanks

built the same, as far as salt corncens, but as performance, the pro-v`s have it, just as the v-max`s. i keep a pro-v 150 on a toy/ski boat an i love it. they are tweaked more,im not sure of the head tweaks but i know the gearing ratios are higher. you should be able to compare the differences in a shop manual.plain and simple, if you want more performance, get the pro.now...if i could only get twin pro`s on my center console....

The Pro-Vs were only available with short shafts. The timing advancement cam was more aggressive on the ProV as well, which gave a little better hole-shot and low end push.
