Just ran our new v8 300hp twin out of fuel. Engine protection system is flashing and wont letter us re start. Have re primed the fuel system and checked oil level etc. All ok. Just wont let us kick it over at all. Anyone got an idea what to do next.

    Thanks, Stephen Arrow.

    exactly what mesage is flashing?
are all the shifters in the N position.
will it crank over and not start or does it not crank over?

      Thanks,
No everything in neutral position when trying to re start. The engine icon is flashing orange/yellow. The digital
display flashes up a new screen saying consult Yamaha technician. When we re set, the engine control defaults back to the flashing engine icon. There is also a small orange light on the controls on the Port motor. (This is a twin engine installation) The problem occurred simultaneously with the advent of the motors running out of fuel. As mentioned, we have re primed the fuel system on both motors. Starboard runs fine but can not get Port to respond at all. Motor start system completely isolated. New fuel prime is clean and there is no evidence of water ingress into both primary and secondary fuel filtration systems, so we do not believe water in fuel is an issue.

"can not get Port to respond at all." does not give clear information on whether or not it turns over and will not fire or it will not turn over at all.
Does the owners manual give anything on the alarms

let me go hunt down my DEC manual.
that flashing orange on the control box, what is the pattern?
remember that system has a seperate alarm system that monitors control functions as well as engine functions.
we MUST keep control box alarms seperate from engine ones.
and NOTHING on the F300 5.3L monitors fuel other than the water in the fuel indicate.
I dont think ya ran out of gas.
when the key is first turned on, you should hear a high pitched whine for abot 3 seconds by the port intake.
after 3 seconds you will hear a continous whine from the throttle assy.
          do you hear it?

exactly which command link setup do you have? command link or command link plus or an aftermarket version?
a solid orange on the control will indicate a loss of communication between the control box ECU and the engine ECU.
engine will crank but not start, trim will still work.
it can still communicate between the engine ECU and the laptop.
