  • lower unit losing oil

My lower unit is losing oil. There is no water getting in the oil but oil seems to be coming from a weep hole in the lower unit housing. The oil is showing up on the concrete under the motor.

I would like to have a quick reply because I am presently working on my motor to solve problem.

      what motor?
      What weep hole?
      Pics would help.

What all have you done to it lately and how did you determine there was no water getting in?

Are you sure it is lower unit oil?

        lower unit oil leak

I checked the lower unit oil level and it was half a quart low. No water in oil. When the motor is in the tilt position in the yard oil seems to be coming from a weep hole in the cowling.

I do not see how the lower unit oil could ever leak out of the cowling, it stays in the lower unit. It has to be 2 stroke oil or 4 stroke motor oil coming from cowling. Seeing as you still have not identified your motor no one knows but you which it could be.
Lower unit oil smells and looks a lot different than the other 2.
