1988 150 2 stroke

Iw as coming back from to dock and going at about 4500 rpm's then suddenly tyhe engine lost power. Thought I had bad gas. I limped back to the dock at 6 mph. In trouble shooting the motor at idle sounded like it had a miss or two, I pulled the plugs wires and cylinder 5 and 6 are not firing ( two adjacent cylinders at bottom of powerhead. I took compression and one cylinder has almost no compression.

Can the Reed valve asembly cause this problem and if so what should I look for before tearing the power head apart?

No the compression reading is the combustion chamber only it checks the cylinder and piston condition.
