98 Vmax trp steering cable question

I have a 98 Vmax 150 and just recently installed it to my boat with a jack plate. I feel that my steering cable will be in a small bind if I mount it to the stock mount. My question is if it would mount and work properly if I were to mount a dual steering mount to the motor and run my single steering cable through the new mount. Thanks in advance for your replies.

buy a longer cable and mount it correctly.
single cable steering typically is rated for 150 HP OR 50 MPH whichever occurs first.
