  • Yamaha 8hp 2 Stroke Casing Grommet Problem

    Hi All,

I've converted 2006 2 stroke 8hp Yamaha outboard from short shaft to long shaft, the new upper casing I bought is part number - 6N0-G5111-10-4D.

The problem I have is that the grommet and fits between the case and the gear shift rod is too big - PN - 90480-20M29, I've spoken to my service center and they tell me there has been no change to that part since the 80s and that my new casing has not been finished properly, but looking at the two holes, see below, the new one seems deliberate.

    Can anyone help?

    Cheers

Solved, just in case one day someone has the same problem and stumbles on this thread.....

I had a spare gear shift rod boot (6G1-44147-00-00) and the fitting into the gear box is the same size.
