  • Minimum battery size

What is the smallest and lightest battery that will start a 2001, 4 stroke, 25 hp Yamaha F25ESHZ outboard. I have used a 24 since the engine was new. The engine is on a 11 foot dingy that hangs on davits. I'm interested in reducing the total weight. Jim

Minimum Battery requirements are 245 cold cranking amps with 52 minutes reserve capacity on the F25 and below motors.

      Minimun cold cranking amos

      Hi Jim,
I have been a happy owner of a 2001 25 hp four stroke motor since 2001.
The owner's manual will tell you you need a min of 380 amps at - 17.8 degrees Celsius. B.S.

I have been using agm group U-1 battery on my 25hp since 2001. I am on my 2nd battery, thinking of getting a new one in 2011, just because. FYI the weight of the U-! seavolt battery is 24 lbs. 240 MCA . Cost about 120 form west Marine. 2 of them in ten years ain't bad at all. Oh, the U-1 is cute, small, and light.
Use it and you will not loose it.....
