  • Too many hours?

    Gents,
Looking at 2-boats both equiped with '98 200HP SWS twins. One has 700hrs & the other has 900hrs. Assuming they both compression test OK is there much life after this much time on the clock? They're fishing boats so some of it is *****ing. Is a good budget for replacing powerheads installed about 10K for both? Need some thoughts guys.

I have over 1200 hours on my twins and they are still running strong. I attribute it to good manufacturing, and proper maintenance (routine oil changes, etc).

At the San Diego boat show a Yamaha rep. told me that Home Land Security is getting 10,000 hours on their motors. He went on to say it is not something Yamaha wants to get out as they are in the business of selling motors.
