  • BR8HS or B8HS spark plugs? for my 175 stroke

i have a yamy 175 89 year model, currently has BR8HS ngk plugs in it bought at local west marine, got number of ngk catalog, but their is a sticker on the engine that says to use ngk B8HS plugs. Iam confused! I know the R stands for resistor is it o.k for that engine.

I believe it was just that there were more sensitive electronic nav devices coming out on the early 90s so they went to R plugs to prevent interference.

It's possible that the non resistor plugs will fire a bit easier, though so that's what I use but then again I'm having long cranking to start in cold weather. Maybe the opposite is true the resistor plugs force the ignition to put out more???

      Agreed, R for resistor. NGK.com

Don't think that there would be much difference in spark firing voltage or
duration between the two types. Need a scope to see it anyway.

I would go with the sticker on the engine.
