  • 90 hp leaks oil when tilted

2005 90 hp TLRD leaks oil when engine is in tilt position for more than a day. Oil accumulates in breather and housing. Removed and inspected reservoir, no obvious leaks on tank or lines. Thinking perhaps one/all of the three inline check valves may be faulty. Would appreciate constructive advice from anyone with similar problem. Thanks in advance

My 1999 90HP Yamaha always has about a teaspoon of oil in the breather, maybe from gas evaporating and leaving behind the oil? It's normal and not a problem. Good Luck!

Mine had probably an ounce collected in it. It creates a problem starting. When I discovered this I tried to start the engine at home with muffs on the lower unit. After several unsuccessful attempts to start I investigated and noticed straight oil running out of the exhaust. Removed the breather and found approx one ounce pooled in the bottom of it. There was oil laying in carb intakes. Pulled the plugs, they were coated in oil, too.
