  • Winterize Lower Unit

How do you winterize the lower unit of a 50 horse 2 stroke motor?

  • #2
Drain it, refill with fresh oil, remove prop, inspect prop shaft for fishing line wrapped around it, check prop shaft seal, clean and grease prop shaft, re-install prop...that's about it!

Just remember to tourque the prop back on to proper spec.

good video, thx for posting, looks like I haven't missed anything but do have two questions . Where do I get the recommended torque for the prop nut (or can I tighten to snug and backoff to fit the cotter pin) and should I replace the oil plug washers on some frequency or just do a visual inspection? Thx
