  • Jumping out of reverse

I have a 2001 30ELHZ. I use it duck hunting. Needless to say it live a tough life. However, the dang thing keeps jumping out of reverse. It does it at any RPM. I have had the clutch dog and gears replaced. That fixed it for a while. However, it's doing it again. Could there be something wrong with the casing that allows the slack or wear to occur. I know there are different size shims that can be put in front of the forward gear and bearing. What would cause this?

Make sure shift shaft union nut is installed correctly between upper and lower shift shaft or gearcase may not be shifting into reverse all the way causing gear and clutch dog wear.
