  • Oops........ I hit a Log

In a 300ft wide river I some how found a 15-20ft log (just under the surface of the water). It brought my boat to a halt, and bent the heck outta my prop. I got it started again after a few trys, and was able to idle back to the ramp (about an hour trip) and get it on the trailer. I checked the bent prop, but I also found this black sluge coming from the exhaust port.

When I got home, I flushed the, motor and everything went normal.
I know the prop gotta be replaced.

Is there anything I should be looking for?
    Any Tips? Any Advice

Check the prop shaft to see if bent. Check gearcase oil for water.
It appears to be running too rich possible carbs flooded or fuel pump diaphram ruptured.

      Thanks for your reply...
      It really helped tremendously.

When I was trying to come back to the ramp, I tried to go faster and it would start, then bog down like it was clogging out. so I decided to idle in. The fuel pump diaphragm will be checked.

I didnt think I was running it rich, cause I always put a bit less oil in the mix. But, Ive only owned this boat for about 6wks. And Ive only used just over one tank full (15gal)

      Thanks again!!

I believe he was talking about the fuel air mixture being rich not the amount of oil in fuel
