  • Trim Gauge bars all black

I would like to know what would cause the trim gauge to show all
black bars no matter what position the motor is in.
    This is a LCD-TACH-TRIM-OIL GAUGE (6Y5-83500-03-00)
The TACH and OIL features on the gauge work fine.
    Motor is a 1991 200TXRP.
I have twins and the other gauge works fine.
I have changed the trim sender at the motor bracket for new.

    Thanks.

I've given up on having the trim gauges working....I just look back at the motors.

Mine went black too. It was the little stationary tab on the tilt bracked that engages the trim sender when you trim it up or down. It was broken off because the trim sender was frozed up. It's spring loaded and kind of exposed so now I spray it with PB blaster couple times a season. The tab was about $14 from boats.net.

Yes, but could the trim gauge being all black bars be stopping the remote oil tank from sending oil to the engine?
