  • 225 TLRP no compression in # 6

I am not sure what happened on this motor but I want to fix it. I was cruising at about 45 mph and heard a metallic sound. It was not real loud and she quit running as I was slowing down. I tilted the motor forward and pulled the cowling and took a quick peek but found nothing obvious. I was able to get it started and take it to the trailer. I purchased a 250 SHO to replace it and love it. I still want to fix the 225 and am thinking possibly a ring, valve or pushrod.

Does anyone have any advice? I have it on a stand and am going to pull the head and look. I do not want to just toss the motor. I also am looking for a good shop manual for this motor. Well thats my first post and I would appreciate any info. By the way the SHO is absolutely awesome my boat used to do 65 and now close to 80.

Run a compression test, pull the heads to see what is damaged.
