stalling

I have a 1992 225. Runs great but lately (a couple of times) at 4000 RPM's it starts to bog as if I'm stuck on something then it stalls out. It takes a little while to get it restarted and then it's fine. I squeeze the ball and the ball is hard.
Any ideas?

Check compression, check for spark at plugs when it stalls, check fuel hoses, filters, remove and clean carbs and fuel pumps.
