2005 250 4 strke - enough power?

i have a '93 center console mako with twin merc 200's, also 93's. i need to repower and am considering the single 250. my boat weight is 3800lbs

not putting down the new motor, but i dont think you will ever have the performance youre used to without twins, of any brand or hp, unless youre ready to step down and lose the low end, wholeshots, top end and handling. you obviously know you were overrated, ideally twin 130`s, my 2c.

I'm sure some will disagree with this post. The 4 stroke offerings lack bottom end which is important in getting the boat onto a plane. I have a friend that switched from the same horsepower 2 stroke to 4 stroke and he was disappointed. However, he does like the fuel economy and quiet.

Personally, when going to a 4 stroke I would not step down in horsepower.
