  • '01 yamaha 115, high RPM before reaching top end speed

My yamaha 115 '01 would reach 5800 rpm and only go 75% of the full speed. my prop is fine and not slipping, piston compression is fine at 60-65psi.
Would it be the tachometer? thanks for any advice.

A compression of 60-65 LBS is to low they normally run 110-130 LBS

I see, i will double check the compressions. If they still read at 60-65psi, how can this happen? What should i do?

      thanks for replying

          Chris,
I have a C115 on a Pathfinder 1806, and my top end rpm is 5200 - I believe the owners manual specs the max rpm at 5000 to 5500. You may already be running at max rpm?
