  • 9.9 EXHA Bearing housing removal

I was trying to replace the upper drive shaft seals. I thought the bearing/seal housing had to be removed also. I tried to pry the housing up, but it only moves 1/4 in. Now I broke the gasket under the housing and I have to remove the housing to replace the gasket. Looks like the housing didn't have to be disturbed to change seals, but it's to late.
    Advise would be greatly appreciated.

Clean the drive shaft good with sandpaper before removing housing and it should come up with a little working.

Thank you for that information. I had already done that. What I did not know is that the drive shaft has to come out first and then the seal housing can be removed. That means removing the gears to get at the nut holding the shaft in place.
