nut on digital tach

I dropped and lost one of the nuts for the back of my digital tach (genuine Yamaha). I bought some 6-32 and 8-32 nuts but neither worked. Can someone tell me what size nut is needed.

It is metric - take the other nut off and go to your local hardware store that carries metric sizes and match it.

Thanks, Ken, I appreciate it. I suspected it was metric.

I had hoped for the exact size so I wouldn't have to take the other nut off again. Anyway, back on my back again to unscrew it!

Would have been nice for Yamaha to include three pairs of nuts and washers so people like me could lose one.
