  • Dry Exhaust Corrosion Issue: Big Block Yammies 2002-2004

    Hello,
I'd like to focus a little more on an engine corrosion issue that I think would benefit from discussion.

This is not the usual cooling passage salt water corrosion that we are all familar with. This has nothing to do with whether one flushes out those passages after every use.

What I'm referring to is exhaust corrosion.

The following links will provide more in depth bachground about the Yamaha exhaust issues that several 2002-2004 big blocks seem to now have.

My 200hp engine falls in these years. However, I only have 400 hours on it, and would like to avoid this situation. I know that my engine has a little of this corrosion. I have seen it. Where I am at Yamaha will not officially, or unofficially, cover the $$ repair.

Is there anything preventive that owners like me can do to avoid, or delay, a full-on exhaust rebuild?

    Thanks!

if the unit is still under warrenty it will be covered.
      if not,for now, you SOL.
there is a good article in last months tow boat US magazine about it.
next I hope will be the F150 balancer issue,
parts to fix the F200,225 and 250 are about 650 dollars and it takes about 6 hours.
