  • wiring on digital tach

I asked earlier on the wiring (F50tlra 2002) for the digital tach. Got an answer but the wiring on my boat has been modified so that the wiring doesn't just plug in. Can someone tell me what each individual wire does (by color) for the short cable between the ignition and the tach? That way I might be able to decode the wiring mess in my boat.

The long cable plugs in fine at the tach and the motor. I don't get any power to the tach but that might be because the short cable wires are not all hooked up.

    Thanks.

The yellow wire is 12 volts when key on, the boat manufactors use a purple wire. The blue wire is backlight in gauges. The green is the tach sender lead and black is ground.

Thanks for the info. Yes, there is a purple wire in there.

I am curious about the tach sender wire. I am using the two plug Yamaha wiring from the engine to the tach. I assumed that was where the tach signal came from.

      Again, thanks for your help.
