  • Yamaha disgital speedometer wiring

    Dear Sirs

I purchased an old 5.7 YEMS engine. and unfortunately the wire harness of its instruments was mixed up.

On the digital mulitfunction speedometer it has 2 pair of cables.

1st pair is Black and blue wire = Backlighting

    2nd pair is Red 12V +
    red 2nd or yellow 12V+
white /blue fuel gauge sender (american sender
white fuel gauge sender ( european sender
    grey temperature alarm flasher
    black 12V-

Unfortunately tis instruments in order to work i have to provide it with
    12V+ on red
    12V- on balck

12V+ on white /blue or on white............. this is strange !!!!

Also when i have the backlighting on, the instument stop to work as much as the backlight works .

Could you pelase tell me if i am doing something wrong !!!

Also does any one know which wire is for the buzzer ?

Does any one also have the wiring diagrams of this engine and instruments

    Thanks .

The yellow wire is 12 volts with ignition key on and red is 12 volts constant(battery voltage). It has to have both wires connected as well as black ground connected to power up gauge.
We were never a stern drive dealer and don't have any manuals or information on them.
