yamaha 200 pro v power loss

I have a 93 yamaha 200 pro v model # P200TLRR. The problem is when cold runs good after going for a ride it loses power hard to get on plane for a couple minutes then regains power. Think it is either stator or trigger. Wondering how I could test either

sounds to me its losing fuel at the high end...why would you want to diagnose electrical parts?
