  • Engine Identification

I have a Yamaha outboard with the following
    Model ID- 200ETXG
    Code- 6G6 UL

According to a model id sheet, this sounds like a 200 HP Manual tilt with electric start ([E], 25" shaft [X] built in 1988 [G]. Is that right?

Does anyone know what the Code means?

Yes that is correct. It's the model code used by Yamaha.

Can you tell me what the "T" in the model stands for? Also, what does the code mean? We are trying to determine if the lower unit can be extended as the engine appears to be too short for the boat.

The "T" is power trim, "X" is 25 inch shaft. Yamaha doesn't offer a shaft extension kit.
