  • 115 Wiring Question

    I have a Yamaha 115tlrc.
On the engine side where the gear shift and throttle hookup, there are 2 quick connect wire sets.
After a trip to the shop for new shift/throttle cables,I noticed one set of wires not connected.
Should both sets of quick connect wires be connected or just one?
What does each set of wires control?
The motor ran fine before discovering the wires not connected.
    Should they be connected?

If it's the off white colored square connectors then are for the gauges, if don't have Yamaha gauges then they are left disconnected.

      Thank you for the response.
I did not see it until after a boat trip,
Here is what happened..... I had connected the wires of the 2 mating connectors.
As soon as I started the motor the alarm went off.
The water was cool coming from the P-hole. The oiler was working OK,with noticeable smoke when first cranked.
Engine ran fine at idle speed.
Attempt to take off, the engine would not go past 2000 rpm and would shutter.
I disconnected the wires, the alarm stopped, acceleration and overall performance was fine.
      QUESTION>>>>
Having connected these wires and attempting to run, what in the system caused the alarm and idle speed only?

Also, can you provide me with a wiring diagram for this motor?
