Unknown parts on 75TLRD

I recently removed my lower unit from my Yamaha 75TLRD outboard to replace the water pump and found some broken soft rubber and metal parts at the bottom of the unit. They appear to have come from the drive shaft and are circular and about 3/4 inch inside diameter. I looked up at the drive shaft and saw a bare retainer ring a few inches up. I checked my repair manual and could not locate the parts on the parts list. The motor runs fine. Any ideas what these broken parts are?
