  • oil brand matter

I'm changing my 4 stroke 225 this weekend. I was wondering if I could use any approved 10w30 oil either conventional or synthic. What is the pros vs cons of synthic.

Synthetic is the way to go for maximum protection.

Agreed. I am a believer in synthetics. Use them in my car, truck, both boats, lawnmower, motorcycle. Be careful when choosing one, as some claim to be synthetic but are actually synth/nat blends. I use Amsoil, but that is just a preference. I have noticed less burn in my 2 stroke outboards, and increased RPM. In my autos, I see cooler running temps while maintaining good pressure. Early synths tended to had a thin consistency, and engines had a hard time building good pressure.

      Good luck!
