Poppet PRV valve

Which direction does the poppet valve get installed?
I don't have the rounded type. It has a long and a short "X" sides.

Short side towards motor.... I bought a new assembly, and they gave me the newer rounded one, a new spring and a new rubber grommet.
They are reportedly less prone to sticking. Did you not have an option to upgrade to the newer style?

I bought it last fall. At that time I didn't know there was a newer version.
I am having an issue with overheating at *****ing speeds.
Trying to figure out if I put it in correctly.

Pull it to check it it is sticking or has something in it keeping it from closing
