1991 Prov 150 Coils

i think i have a coil breaking down , it has an intermittent miss,it will run fine for a while then it almost seems like it goes into an alarm mode with no alarm ,if that makes any sense thanks

Check it with a timing light to see if all cylinders are firing.

I replaced plugs ,ran it approx 2-3 miles,slowed down for boat wake,wouldnt get back on plane very easily,got back to launch,middle cylinder on starboard side,plug was lean(or not firing)by the time i got back home it had spark(didnot check for spark at launch)my question is can a coil start to go and be intermittent like that(fyi compression on allcylinders is approx 105#s)thanks so much for your help
