  • Alarm sounds while *****ing

    I have a 1998 C60TLRW 60 hp 2 cycle Yamaha.
I can run at regular speeds all day with no alarm.
However, If I ***** at just above idle for 15 min or so the alarm sounds.

Is this a impeller or temp sensor problem?

    Best regards,

    Pops

I agree, sounds like PRV stuck open and dumping water and not allowing the block to fill all the way up at low RPM

          Thanks guys,
How do I check the PRV and the thermostat to see if either is defective?

          I appreciate your time.

            1998 yamaha overheating

I have the same problem with the exact same motor. I hope someone knows where to find the PRV on this motor. I cannot find any reference to a PRV in parts list.

The C60 doesn't use a pressure control valve, start with replacing water pump probably will solve problem.
