F40 gearbox noise after starting.

Hi please could anyone advise me, I have a F40 2002 after starting sometimes it makes a loud squeal for a short time, then clears, which in it`s self is a real pain as I can`t determine where exactly its coming from.
it never comes back whist at sea, only if left for a while.

Im unsure, It is a forty hp four stroke, I understood that only had one belt, which was the timming belt. ????

Remove lower unit and check drive shaft bushing(if it's a model that has one) in upper housing and grease bushing and upper drive shaft splines. Check lower gearcase drain screw magnet to see if has metal on it and no water in gearcase oil.
