throttle stuck

I have a 2005 carolina skiff with a yamaha 40hp 2 stroke on it the boat sat for years but now I have it running great minus one problem when accelerating there seems not to be a way to tell if its full throttle or not and once your there if you go a fraction of a inch too far the lever gets stuck and your stuck flying around wide open untill I can pry the lever back down any ideas please?

Maybe loosen/adjust throttle friction screw on front of control box, check throttle cable and carb linkages for freedom of movement. Throttle control sticking could be very dangerous and need to fix it, for sure.
