  • Yamaha 150 steering tube

I tried to install a new tube but can't get it to line up. What do I have to do? I put the engine back on the boat thinking it would help align the holes. The trim pistons seem to be keeping me from aligning the holes. How do I retract the pistons? I had to remove the tube after cutting the cable as cable corroded to the inside of the tube. What is best lubricate to use on the steering cable and inside the tube. Seems like there should be grease fittings to be able to lube frequently and without having to pull cable out to lube it.

Try loosing the manual release screw on power trim unit to help align it, use marine waterproof grease and steering cable and inside tube.
