  • 2006 300 HP Oil supply to Engine tank prob

    High Guys
    Just found you!
    Hope you can help.
There is a problem with the delivery of oil to the tank under the cowl from the one in the Hull
I have removed the hull tank and ran 12 volts through the pump
I made a noise as if it was pumping but no oil came out
I only ran it for about 5 seconds in case I blew summat!!

Twice I have had to top up the 'upper' tank after the boat went into limp home mode and a continuos alarm went off.

Can I do a better test of the hull tank?
What can I test at the engine tank end?
    Thanks in advance
    K

Try to opearate the emergency override toggle switch on engine with ignition key in on position, oil transfer pump in remote(one in boat) should run and oil should transfer to engine oil tank. Check oil level lights on Yamaha Tach and see which is displaying, if oil tank is full then bar on right corner of tach will be on.

      Thanks for that.
So just ignition 'on' or do I run the engine?

Just turn switch to on position, not running, should hear electric oil pump running when activate toggle switch.

I had a similar problem. Turns out it was the little TINY in-line filter on the back side of the "big" tank in my console. Pump would run, but no oil to engine tank since the filter was stopped up.

I removed the tank, drained it, cleaned it, installed the new filter, put everything back together and no more issues for about a year now!!!

              Thanks DukesFin.
              I actually did that today.
The tank is in a RIB in a daft place!
              I will relocate it.
Flushed the tank out and blew down all the pipes.
              I have cleaned the filter.
Crikey, I just remebered, dunno if i put it back the right way round!
Anyway I will get a new un.

There was quite a bit of 'gunge' in there.
Checked out the engine tank too.

              So everything now clean.
Next step will be to try the checks boats.net suggested
