  • Steering tube w/zerk

    MAR-ZERKN-UT-01

The Teleflex NFB SafeT II rotary steering cable comes with a tilt tube nut that appears to be non removable because of flanges on the steering cable end and the tilt tube rod.

    It has no zerk fitting.

How then, would the above nut, w/zerk fitting be installed?

I just don't see any way to get the original nut off, or for that matter, get the zerk equipped nut on.

The rod on the cable slides into and through the tilt tube and the nut on the cable holds it in place. The other end of the tilt tube will have the place for the new nut to seal out the water around the steering rod.

I've heard about that steering rod siezing over the winter. Iv'e seen that nut sold with a zerk fitting in it to prevent that from happening.
